This does everything it should, but at 10x the volume expected. When I tried it out the door blew open and pictures flew off the walls. My cat stuck her head in the toilet. I went to look for a volume switch and found that it was on the middle setting (off-middle-loud)! I knew I shouldn't but I tried the loud setting. There are no windows left in my neighborhood nor paint on the walls. It's been very quiet since then though... I haven't heard a thing. I might never again. 5 stars for excellent volume for the price!

I recorded a message and made it sound spooky in audacity and used this to shout at trick-or-treaters when they walked down my path. It worked great. It triggered almost every time (and a few false triggers). I'm going to use it again at Christmas with a less creepy message. Would use again!

I love that I can upload a wav file. I use this in my bathroom during Harry Potter parties. My previous one could only use a micro SD card and did not have a guide, so the first card fell through and is just rattling around in there. It also stopped working due to water damage, and I'm kind of thrilled that it did, so I could upgrade to this new one that is easy to add new recordings.

This thing is pretty great, and honestly way easier than you would think
1. Plug this into your computer/tablet
It should show up as some kind of storage device. It has about 0.5 gigs which isn't a lot, but for an audio file, it's plenty.
2. Select the audio file you want to add to the device and drag and drop it into the device
If for whatever reason the new file is too large, you can delete the pre-existing files by simply selecting them and deleting them. I did this from the start to make things simpler. The instructions that come with the device don't really make it clear how to select just one audio recording. To make things simple, I just have one recording on the device.
3. After you have the audio file you want on the device, and have safely unpaired/unmounted from your computer/tablet, install the device where you want it. It comes with some plastic mounting hardware, but I used a command strip because it's more apartment friendly.
4. Enjoy! In my video the device plays the opening to the haunted mansion ride. It has a switch on the side for volume and power. All the way to the top is high volume, the middle is low volume, and the bottom is off. It's that simple!

Worked freaking fantastically!!! Definitely recommend! Husband even wants to use this(minus the dog skelly) to scare the cats that come into the yard. Hahaha.

After a lot of searching, I settled on this device for my yard for halloween. Extremely pleased with my choice! The device is extremely small, but whacks a great punch in terms of sound! It's able to reach very far in terms of detecting motion. Up to 13 ft. In my video, you can barely see where I hid it. I made sure it gets pointed out to you so you can see how far away it was yet I am still able to hear the audio very clearly from where I am standing.
If you want to hide it even better, like I did, put some black tape over the red light that turns on when the motion sensor activates. It does not interfere with the function of the device if this light gets covered.

I purchased four of these PIR recordable soundboxes for our escape room haunt and they were exactly what we needed, with a few issues that had solutions.First, when I tried to upload various sound files it didn't seem to play anything but the first sound. Being a zombie moan, it got quite annoying. However, when I saw the preexisting files on the second player, I realized it was user error. The files must be named '1', '2', etc. without any other identifier.The second issue I had was the usb plug on one player. My computer wouldn't recognize the soundbox. I took the cable that came with the first one (that didn't have issues) and it worked. If I had only bought one, I would have thought it was a bad unit. Not sure if a usb cable for a phone would work, but I suspect it would.The third issue I had was with volume. At the lower setting it is still quite loud and therefore tinny. To overcome this I turned down the volume on my files using Audacity's free software.I was able to hide one in my zombie's shirt, leaving a small space for the sensor without hindering the functionality.Overall, this product performed perfectly for our event and I will be a return customer.
